Return & Refund Policy

At Makhaf Heavy Duty Machinery, we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. This policy outlines the terms and conditions for returning products and obtaining refunds in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) of South Africa.

14-Day Cooling-Off Period

In terms of Section 44 of the CPA, if you purchased goods through our website (an electronic transaction), you have the right to return the goods within 14 (fourteen) days of delivery without providing a reason, provided the goods meet our return conditions.

• The 14-day period begins on the date you receive the goods
• You must notify us in writing of your intention to return within this period
• Goods must be returned in their original, unused condition with all packaging, manuals, and accessories

Conditions for Returns

To qualify for a return, the following conditions must be met:

• The product must be in its original, unused, and undamaged condition
• All original packaging, protective materials, manuals, and accessories must be included
• Proof of purchase (invoice or order confirmation) must be provided
• Generators must not have been fuelled, started, or operated
• Solar panels and batteries must not have been installed or connected
• The product must be returned in its original sealed packaging where applicable

Exclusions from Returns

The following items cannot be returned under the cooling-off period:

• Generators that have been fuelled, started, or operated
• Solar panels, inverters, or batteries that have been installed or wired
• Custom-configured or specially ordered equipment built to your specifications
• Products damaged through misuse, negligence, or improper handling by the customer
• Consumable items (fuel filters, oil filters, lubricants) that have been opened
• Products where the serial number or identification labels have been removed or tampered with

Defective Products

Under Section 56 of the CPA, if a product is defective, unsafe, or not fit for its intended purpose, you are entitled to return it within 6 months of delivery for a full refund, repair, or replacement at your choice. This right applies regardless of whether the product has been used.

• Defective products must be reported to us as soon as the defect is discovered
• We may require the product to be inspected by our technical team or the manufacturer
• If the product is confirmed defective, we will cover all return shipping costs
• Replacement or refund will be processed within 15 business days of confirmation

How to Initiate a Return

To start the return process, follow these steps:

Refund Process

• Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 15 business days of receiving the returned goods
• For EFT payments, the refund will be credited to the bank account from which payment was made
• Credit and debit card refunds may take an additional 5-10 business days to reflect, depending on your bank
• Shipping costs are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error or a defective product
• For returns under the 14-day cooling-off period, return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility

Large Equipment Returns

Due to the size and weight of generators and large solar equipment, special arrangements may be required for returns:

• Contact us to arrange collection or approved courier services for heavy items
• Do not attempt to return large equipment without prior arrangement
• The product must be accessible for collection from ground level
• Additional handling or transport costs may apply for oversized items
